Scenario Design - Disney Parks VR & AR
PROJECT BRIEF
The objective was to choose a company and design a scenario of how the company will survive in the future (25 years from now).
Students had to choose two factors that will affect the company.
My company was Disney Parks and my two factors were economy and technology.
In 2042
As technology is getting developed, more high tech weapons are being made causing international conflicts. Tensions between countries are higher than ever making the economy unstable. Also due to the tensions, small terrorism are happening around the world.
Because of international conflicts, nationalism and patriotism is increasing. Each countries are recommending natives to use their own brands.
What is happening to Disney?
-Economy is unstable and Disney has no choice but leaving the middle class behind
-Tourists are decreasing and some people are afraid to go out to the public because of terrorism(high tense environment) that might happen
-Disney around the world is having hard time competing local amusement parks because of the nationalism
Introducing Disney VR
which is only accessible to one park and few rides.
It’s cheap and can be used at anywhere. Don’t have to leave their home if they are scared to go out.
They Can travel/walk through the parks and enjoy the rides with friends, families, or even stranger
Also users don’t have to wait in the line for the rides. Much faster than visiting actual park.
For more accessibility, users have to choose the country and buy tickets or join membership
(1day, 2day, 3day, month, annual ticket, etc)
Customization
Each user can customize their avatars(how others will see the user) with their favorite Disney characters.
User can buy special characters and clothes with extra charge if they want to.
Creating Your Own Disney Space
Also users can customize their own small Disney space like building their own castles and invite others.
Some of the special decorations will be available with extra charge too.
Different Cultural Parks
Each countries will have their unique Disney films and parks because of cultural difference.
So they have unique rides and parades. (different characters)
VR user can access to any parks if they buy the ticket for that country.
This will help Disney to compete globally.
Even though natives might not use it that much, others around the world will have easy access to the park and enjoy the different culture.
Exploring the Disney World
VR Users can explore the world of movies/films of that country virtually.
ex)Lion King, Aladdin, Frozen, etc
Free Movies/Films
Disney VR will also provide lots old free disney movies and films.
For recent films, user can buy movies with extra charge.
Visiting Actual Disney Parks
Visiting actual Disney parks will trigger special events for VR users such as gaining special Disney characters for customization
Large amount of points which can exchange for souvenir toys
Unlocking new rides, secret parks, etc
People who want to actually enjoy the thrill of the ride will also want to visit the Parks too than just using VR.
This will increase the tourist which helps Disney to make some profit.
Introducing AR Glasses
( they will provided when entering the park and they have to be returned)
Visitors at the park who has Disney’s AR glasses can interact with others who are using VR at homes.
(Grandparents, disabled, or people with personal issues)
They don’t have to leave the room and enjoy the Disney parks with friends or families who are actually at the park.
VR & AR Interaction
VR and AR users will be interacting a lot such as shooting game
VR users can fight with AR users for more points
Participate as a monster in Disney rides
Small amounts of points are gained from interactions
(all the points users get can be used to buy toys at the Disney shop.)
Virtual Disney Shop
People will be able to buy toys at the actual Disney shop or at Virtual Disney shop for VR users by using points they gained.
VR users will be able to see the toys and see how big it is or how would it look like in real life.
When they buy it, it will deliver to the buyer.
Example Scenario
James-43 years old
Currently working in China because of his job
(has a wife, two kids, and his parents living in America)
His family wants to go to Disney Park but James is unable to due to his job. Also it would cost too much to go to America and come back to China.
So his family has no choice but to go to Disneyland without him.
Also James’ parents are old and scared to go out to public because of tension and terrorism that might happen.
How can James and his family enjoy the Disney Park together?
James and his parents will be using VRs at homes while his wife and kids will be actually visiting the park.
Through AR glasses, his family will be able to interact with James and his parents who are using VRs at home.
This will make them feel like they are enjoying the disney park together even though they are far away from each other.
So VR and AR helps people interact each other despite of international conflicts and also helps to bring people together globally.
